Clannad 21/22 - Final Thoughts
Clannad 21 was quite slow, and the only important event is Nagisa being focused on the play and Nagisa finding out the truth.

Clannad 22, our ending, had very strong family points and Tomoya/Nagisa…yet, isn’t something missing…?

After being Evangelion’s Rei-like, taking all the guilty to herself, which was both a bit exaggerated yet for a person like Nagisa, who doesn’t have confidence I guess it would be believable., Akio does something awesome and shows us all what family should be.

Nagisa the proceeds with the play, and Clannad has its good Nagisa ending.

Final Thoughts
Plot
I can’t help comparing it with its predecesors, Air and Kanon. Air did a theme-change in the middle of the story, going from Yukito/Misuzu interaction to Summer to Misuzu and her mother. Kanon was more like a dating sim, I mean I know it’s taken from that but the guy was too friendly with all of them, and amnesia is overrated. Clannad is mainly about people making bonds, siblings, parents, and friends. It was nice, but it didn’t have a traumatic ending like Air, nor did it leave a what will happen like when the guy searched for Ayu and solved the mystery. It was a common story, and I know that it needs the afterstory to make it cooler.

Girls
The first difference I spotted is how Tomoya doesn’t seem to hit on every one of them. Most should have notice that Nagisa was the main heroine and that it would end like that since the first episode.
Fuuko: Too much time on her. Too much like Ayu’s story, and hyper annoying when revived.
Kotomi: Aww, I really like her, mostly when her arc was finished ‘cause she behaved normally in a way, she adapted and grew. And it doesn’t seem to me she likes Tomoya, or at least not that much, she never looked sad when they interacted together at all. Which I think it good.
Tomoyo: I don’t like her much. Nosey characters, nosey people, me no likes. I mean, she kept being cool and suddenly she just enters Tomoya’s room to make him go early to school. There are tons of students who wake up late, and if she liked him, she would have fought a bit. Anyway, her story wasn’t that impressive either. It’s like it finished before it started.
Kyou: I didn’t like her personality but I admire her guts, she actually thought Tomoya could like her and tried advancing in that one episode. But, not being honest with her sister, that sucks for both of them.

Romance
The best developed one from previous series, I think Nagisa/Tomoya grew a lot because of each other, and all scenes were realistic.

Bad parts
-Fuuko’s story being too long, same with Kotomi. I understand why they didn’t do that with the others, as their stories involve Tomoya being lovey-dovey with them…
-No afterstory/dream world ending.
-Sunohara should have got a girl.
-Fuuko appearing when revived and being all friendly with them.
Hope they make them for the OVA though!

As for favourite characters, Tomoya certainly grew on me. He had an actual problem -and amnesia with only one girl yay!-, didn’t hit on every girl -and actually said NO to Ryou-, blush and many other traits. Made him a great lead.
Sunohara pwned. First of all, a good change, seeing the main character have a BOY friend. Sunohara helped a lot of characters in the show, and he deserves a gold star.
Nagisa was a good heroine, and stick with Tomoya ‘cause she didn’t have a single friend. -so she had a reason-, and she declared first so yay!
Akio is one of the best anime dads. =)
Two Shadows was a nice touch for the ending.
And I don’t have much to say, I probably edit this ‘cause it sucked hehe.
